Forum: GratefulDead Subject: another lurker

Hi everyone, I was travelling in Italy and saw that lurker post some days ago thinking I should finally reply to that! I'm german living in southern Germany and hesitated for quite a while to do it, I understand most of what you are saying (couldn't figure out yet what "lol "means??).
First of all I want to thank all the people who make this great site possible, an american friend introduced me to it about 18 months ago and I was overwhelmed by all these GD shows (and thought it would go on forever to DL the SBDs), so I wasn't really fast. Since then I've been visiting this forum regularly. So thanks to all who contributed all these interesting, entertaining posts, I bookmarked tons of them to go back to for the next DL.
I got my first album in '69 probably, either Live Dead or the long out of print Vintage Dead, maybe some of you know it, I love Rider from then on, even though that was quite a different sound to the later ones. I hesitate to say how many shows I saw after knowing about all the 120+, 89, 234 etc... : well 3,first one in Frankfurt/Hundred Year Hall in Europe 72, then Munich a couple of weeks later and one more in CA in '78, Stockton.
Kind of lost contact in the 80s and 90s until the release of the So many roads boxset, I think, after the LMA I listen to the GD,JGB and Phil more than ever, it's kind of magic, I've been listening to a lot of music in the last decades and usually get a bit tired of every record, CD, song or whatever..., not here.
Well this is just to say hello, it's interesting to hear about some backgrounds, at least for me.
Take care, G.

I didn't know what lurker meant in the beginning, and I really didn't understand everything you all were talking about in the Liam thread(s),just parts of it,I'm more interested in the music anyway, but again, what means lol? And I agree calling it Silent Majority.

they have "coffee shops" in Spain???? you are kidding.
Been to Amsterdam a couple of times - what a damn beautiful city and country - traveled all over there - Den Helder is wonderful. Wow i miss those days. What a wonderful people are the Dutch - friendly, respectful, clean streets - a great destination even without the "coffee."

"ganges!' Welcome to the madness!!! I think "lol" means "one-on-one" - as for what "one-on-one" means?...I have no clue. Or, another possibility is "the other ones" -as for why it is utilized in the forum posts, I have no clue. Hey, you saw some great shows. I also saw them 3 times.(x100) I used to date a babe from Berlin!! (MA)....but then the wall caved in. You should check out Robert Hunter's archive.
Hope to hear more from our friends in Europe, --- AshesRising

( ..does anybody know why I can't download the SBD shows?..if there was a change in policy, are there any links to where one can read about it?.. )
